Ontem a noite eu tive o enorme prazer de assistir o que é considerado o melhor filme da história do cinema hollywoodiano, qual eu naturalmente amei, um verdadeiro clássico. Após terminar o filme, fui direto pros extras e reuni 10 curiosidades que compartilho aqui.
É praticamente impossível imaginar outros atores nos papeis principais que não Humphrey Bogart,Ingrid Bergman e Paul Henreid como os protagonistas, porém esse não foi o elenco inicial em mente. O elenco original terial Ronald Reagan como Rick, Ann Sheridan como Ilsa e Dennis Morgan como Victor Lazslo, porém, devido a uma série de circunstância, o elenco todo foi substituído. De fato foi uma escalação difícil, pois ambos Bergman e Henreid estavam presos em contratos e tiveram de ser “emprestados” e Bogart não foi a opção seguinte, mas foi escolhido pois o ator após Reagan (felizmente) recusou o papel.
2.“As Time Goes By”quase foi substituída
Max Steiner, o compositor da trilha sonora de Casablanca quase cometeu um terrível erro, ele quis substituir “As Time Goes By” por uma canção original dele. E quase substitui, mas perceberam que não seriam possível pela forma que essa canção ficou por toda estrutura do filme, precisariam até mesmo de refilmagens, sendo que Ingrid Bergman havia cortado o cabelo, assim mantendo a canção no filme.
3.Efeitos Especiais
O avião visto na imagem acima não é real, ele é um pequeno aeromodelo com truques de câmera para ser aumentado. Apesar de não poder ser considerado um filme de baixo orçamento, Casablanca não foi nenhuma mega-produção, muitos dos cenários do filme são de outros filmes da Warner e foram reaproveitados para poupar gastos. Na cena final do aeroporto temos mais efeitos especiais, pois apesar de não ser um aeromodelo, o avião é bem menor, e fazem uso de uma lona com cenário para ele parecer maior, mas ouve um pequeno detalhe dos quais os produtores tiveram que se virar, e terá seu próprio item aqui.
4.Dooley Wilson não sabia tocar piano
Sam, o pianista é um dos destaques do filme, o melhor amigo de Rick, aquele que serve pra mostrar alguém que conhecei Rick no passado, e sabia como ele era. Apesar do personagem ser um talentoso pianista e ter um trabalho muito cobiçado por donos de clube o mesmo não pode ser dito sobre o seu interprete. Dooley Wilson não sabia como tocar piano, tudo visto no filme eram gravações, enquanto o ator apenas fingia tocar.
5.O Filme recebeu esse nome por conta de “Argélia”
Casablanca não é um roteiro original, o filme é uma adaptação da peça teatral “Everybody comes to Rick’s” mas como muitos casos do gênero, o seu título foi alterado. Em 1938, alguns anos antes de Casablanca, o filme “Argélia” fez bastante sucesso, por conta disso os responsáveis decidiram que o título do filme, tal qual “Argélia” seria sua ambientação, Casablanca, assim surgiu o título de um dos maiores filmes da história do cinema.
6.Anões no set
No item 3 eu havia dito que um dos fatos sobre os efeitos especiais usados no filme teria um item próprio, é este. Os aviões na cena final do aeroporto eram bem menores do que reais, e usaram truques de câmera para os aumentar, porém havia um detalhe: Os extras que trabalhavam no aeroporto tinha estatura normal, então em comparação a seus corpos, ficava evidente tamanho real do set, por isso as pessoas vistas na imagem acima são anões, usados para disfarçar o tamanho
7.As Séries de TV
Casablanca fez um extremo sucesso, então a Warner Brother quis contar mais dessa história. Em 1955 saiu uma série de TV inspirada no filme e foi até 1956, porém não recriou o sentimento do original. Outra tentativa foi feita em 1983 com outra série de TV, mesmo resultado. Podemos dizer que a melhor e mais bem-sucedida revitalização de Casablanca foi o episódio “Carrotblanca” dos Looney Tunes, que pôs o Pernalonga no lugar do personagem de Bogart.
8.Michael Curtiz perdeu a paciência
Michael Curtiz, o diretor de Casablanca, era um sujeito muito metódico ao fazer seus filmes, e certo dia, um erro cometido pelo compositor durante as gravações o fez perder a paciência. No meio de uma cena importantíssima, a atuação de Ingrid Bergman foi interrompida pelo som de um dos equipamentos sonoros, nessa hora, Michael Curtiz ficou furioso com Max Steiner (o compositor) começou a gritar com ele e xinga-lo na frente de todos, Curtiz era careca, e nas palavras do próprio Steiner, ele ficou tão furioso que as veias em sua cabeça começaram a saltar. Uma vez que Curtiz se virou, Steiner o mandou pro Inferno, nessa hora todo o set ficou calado.
9.Como o final foi escolhido
O final de Casablanca foi escolhido de última hora, de fato Ingrid Bergman questionou diversas vezes o diretor e os roteiristas para saber o fim de sua personagem, e eles sempre davam a mesma respostas “Te deixaremos saber quando nós soubermos”. O final clássico de Casablanca com Rick mandando Ilso ir com Victor foi escolhido logicamente: Que personagem o público iria querer ver morrer? O Major Strauss; e que personagem deveria mata-lo? Rick, então Rick teria que ficar. Nessa decisão, o filme se imortalizou, e deu pro Rick um dos momentos de maior compaixão ao mentir para Victor e estabeleceu a tragédia de Ilsa.
10.“Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”
A última fala do filme não estavam no roteiro original, de fato não foi nem gravada nas filmagens. Hall Wallace, produtor do filme, achou que o filme precisava de mais, então ele escreveu ele mesmo a fala, de fato, Humphrey Bogart não falou mais nada após virar de costas, ele foi chamado um mês depois do fim das gravações para gravar a fala clássica que encerrou o filme.
