Adolescente latino de El Paso e devotado à sua família, ele adquire os poderes do Besouro Azul a partir de um escaravelho alienígena, que se instalou na base de sua espinha e lhe deu um traje e seus poderes. O personagem fez sucesso, aparecendo em diversas séries animadas e games, e será o protagonista do filme que dirigido por Angel Manuel Soto.
